The most perfect caravan

So, Eye Candy is a new category in which I will describe what I have seen and you can imagine in. Pictures don’t always do things justice. Here’s your first one…

With a porthole window, beautiful wooden construction and an old fashioned fairground feel to it (surely an acrobat, lion tamer or even a fortune teller might have called it home at one time). My Dutch neighbours last night have the most beautiful vintage caravan.

It dates from 1953. They bought it for Eur 150 and apparently a museum was trying to outbid them. I’m happy it’s still being enjoyed.

It’s a dark stained wood, with original orange canvases on each side so it has a very Dutch house-style look when it’s up. It’s small, maybe 1.8m high at a guess (not my forte that part) it fits a double bed but it also apparently has space for a table and chairs in the daytime.

It felt cosy, glowed orange inside (obviously) and was full of history. When it was time to leave, it folded (two people best for this) neatly into a nondescript trailer. I stood in the rain and watched the magic happen. You’d have no idea what lay beneath.
