On and On and On

So, I gave two German families a tour of the van this evening and learned something alarming. Apparently, the reason I have not seen many of the Brazilian Bays (vans like mine made since the 1980s) in Germany is that you can’t get one licensed since they stopped using safety glass for the windscreens. Cue another thing to worry about, tiny splinters of glass 😐

Equally alarming was the discovery than even with two human passengers, wind is a big issue for all motorhomes. Rats. Looks like those arm muscles are going to need more work in that case. I was hoping to resolve it this trip by way of kidnap and on the next trip with a minimum passenger weight. I would have given said passengers enough notice so we could all pile on a few extra kilos before we set sail but it seems this strategy just will not make any difference and it also might not be ethical. If any engineers know what would help and not violate any human rights, do chip in below.

I have a feeling that I will eventually have to make so many adaptations to Kitty to make her fit with my motto – which is believe it or not ‘ Better to be safe than sorry’ – that she will end up the most expensive (pointlessly) van in town. Hey ho. She looks cute. We definitely need new curtains, I’m sure I can get that past the spending committee.

So as I will be sailing (read driving but feeling like I’m sailing) most of tomorrow, crossing numerous windy bridges (yes, including THE BRIDGE again) on my way to a western tip of Denmark for a few nights; I thought I would blog briefly now, an extra bonus blog if you like, because you’re worth it. I’m not very sure who is still reading other than my loyal sister but to hell with it, I am an artist! I shall produce no matter the audience! Jesus. I’ve been away a while as you can see.

The noisiest campers in Germany are back. I gleefully assumed they had left this morning (they didn’t leave a reserved sign with a picture of their van and glow in the dark stars so what else was I to think?) but alas, they just zoomed back in at full volume and starting slamming doors and blowing noses. I am (very lamely) trying to have an early night but the sleep element seems unlikely before they’ve finished shouting at each other about the washing up. Everyone else here is so peaceful, it’s been a lovely day. I’ve been reorganising cupboards and still have not found my moisturiser. One of many thankfully but an important one nonetheless. Its whereabouts will remain a mystery for now. This really is a major issue these days, along with the integrity of the vehicle.

I have excellently managed the dogs’ fear of the bed being folded down tonight though by pre-preparing it before allowing them back in the van. Genius. It is actually interesting what you do learn about your dogs in such close quarters for almost two weeks already. Miffy has really surprised me with how well she has adapted and Filou may well be suffering from doggie dementia but seems to be improving daily (she is almost 12). Both are doing pretty well to be honest so a big wave for them both. However, can you believe that neither of them brought a single book or change of clothes? Heathens.

I’m off to read a chapter of ‘Mind over Medicine (Dr Lissa Rankin) and shall report back in due course.

Have a nice evening, a great Wednesday and see you in Denmark, where I think we are expecting the weather to turn back to rain and our old friend wind. Vi Ses, Sverige.

In other news my Rabbit lights are currently inexplicably out of action (common on this bus) but my heart lights (thanks Elaine) have just been installed.
