I’m not talking about my moisturiser, I’m certain it’s not even in the van by this stage, so thoroughly have I searched.
If however, you are the owner of the pair of brown trousers seen on the hard shoulder of the E45 going South from Billund then you can stop searching. You will find what you are looking for as I’ve found them. Well, I left them there, I’m helpful, not insane. I’m very keen to hear the story of how they got there though. Do tell 🤔
Bono was specially selected to sing to me today* on my rather scenic journey South through Denmark and into Germany and he hasn’t found it either. What he’s looking for. He’s definitely had a very thorough rummage. Sounds like he might have overdone it in fact but as you know, I’m not one to judge. I’ve linked to the song below so you can decide for yourselves. I thought at first they might be his trousers by the side of the road but they were a little long in the leg and he’s been searching since the 1980s and they also seemed a little wide in the leg for that period.
For the rest of you – who I very much hope have not recently lost trousers on a European motorway – I’m talking about you know what. You know, the thing that when you find it will make sense of your life? They always find it in films, particularly after a really good look.
This thing that we’re all looking for (still!), I presume it will come with shimmering arrows pointing at it ‘snapchat style’ lest you miss it; it will explain your purpose. It will let you know if you’re on the right track. It will make you happy. Hell, it might even tell you your future! It’s quite the thing.
Anyway, we’re all at it. Hunting high and low** for the bloody thing but of course we’re all wasting precious time.
There’s no person, job, house, magic potion, apology, amount of money, child, animal or item of clothing at the end of any of our searches (but but…I hear you cry). You might have found the love of your life (well done) but don’t tell me you’ve stopped looking for it ? Of course you haven’t. Whatever we don’t have, we seek. Endlessly. Even if we think we’re not seeking it, we are 🧐.
I had time for a good think while I was having most of my treatment earlier this year. I did a mental checklist of where I felt I’d done well and what was still missing. Seriously. What an idiot. Who cares? There was bugger all I could do about it at that stage anyway! I have several good friends too who keep getting stuck. Grasping for the missing thing. We all need to sit down and just stop.
We are where we are. If we want things we should go get them if they are things within our control but be warned. You’ll always have something missing. You’ll never compete the list. That’s sort of the point. It’s within you, not something you find ❤️.
So shall we all just stop trying?
I don’t have anything more to offer by the way. Having spent the last three weeks living day by day, just experiencing the good and the bad, it feels good.
There are lots of things I think I want but I’m no longer looking for them. There are more things I want to do, so as much as I can, I shall do them.
If you let yourself just exist and gravitate towards what pleases you, you’ll be drawn towards what you need to be or to do and who you need to spend time with and these things will be drawn to you. It won’t require thought or a difficult decision. That’s the magic 💫.
I’m drawn strongly away from exclusive golf clubs so it seems 😂. It’s great. Like when you turn a magnet the other way around. It works both ways and is as powerful as you need it to be, if you let it do its work.
You don’t need to look for anything 😘.
Who’s going to tell Bono 😬?
* He’s not German but they did have an album with a half-German title once so that counts.
** I couldn’t resist, sorry.
